Days 86-87 – An Amazing Night

This post isn’t about any kind of lesson, really. Just to share a great night I had.

Last night was the Valley Fiesta, a free music festival that my city holds every year, and one of my favourite bands was playing. The plan was for my friends and I to dress up, see this band, and then hit some Halloween parties. I got ready, all made up, and then the fucking rain started falling.

One by one friends cancelled on me, and distraught I called one of them in tears and asked her to please come along. I was all dressed up and couldn’t face staying home, and my anxiety was too high to go alone. I know this wasn’t great form on my behalf, and I feel a little bad about it. But, being a great friend, she agreed to come out for a little while, just to see the band, but no dressing up, and she brought her boyfriend along. I was so happy that the evening hadn’t completely fallen through.

I felt like a bit of a freak with my make up on (a sugar skull), as Halloween isn’t a big deal here and almost nobody was in costume. But it turned out to be a great ice breaker. So many strangers spoke to me because of the make up.

Once the band came on, I got really excited. I’d never actually seen the band members before, not even in photos. As soon as I saw the lead singer, I was transfixed. “He’s really hot,” I said to my friend, “I want to sleep with him.” She laughed at this.

After the show, I approached him to have him sign my arm (I had no paper). He obliged, and we got a photo together. I returned to my friend and her boyfriend, who were ready to head off. I wasn’t ready to call it a night, so I screwed up my courage and went back to the singer.

“This probably sounds retarded, and feel free to say no, but could I hang with you guys tonight?” I asked him.

“Sure!” He said, to my surprise. “We need to pack up, but just hang around here, and we’ll grab you when we’re done.”

I waited for a little while, talking to some of his friends. When they were done we all went up to a private artist party. By rights I shouldn’t have been allowed in, but the drummer said to the door girl “Her pass is upstairs” and it was all cool.

It was a great party, free drinks, balcony view of the headlining act, and so many cool people. Of course, I was the only one in make up, but everyone said I looked awesome and I had no trouble talking to people. After all the alcohol had run out, the singer said they were going to a friends house to continue the party, and would I come along? Hell, yes.

At party number 2 I mingled for a while, and made my way back to the singer. After a bit of nerdy flirting (talk of computer games seemed to get him excited) he kissed me. We made out for a while, and both our faces got completely smudged. I asked if he wanted to come back to my place, so I could wash my face and he could find out what I looked like. Without any hesitation, he said yes.

Back at mine he watched me wash my face, which felt surprisingly intimate. In my bed we talked for ages, had sex, then talked until we fell asleep. When we woke up,we talked some more, had sex some more, then talked even more. It felt like we had so much to say to each other.

Eventually, hung over and hungry, we went out to breakfast together, and then walked around the city and talked for ages. Then he had to catch a flight back to Sydney, and we kissed goodbye. He invited me to hang out when they play in Brisbane again in November, but I don’t want to get my hopes up that it will actually happen.

We definitely had a connection, but he lives 1000 kilometres away and tours a lot, so it won’t go any further. It was just one awesome night.

I suppose there are some lessons in here: great things can happen if you take a chance; keep practising not becoming attached; and if you have to go out alone, wear weird make up 😉

  1. Wow, look at you, Sparrow! You had this awesome night with a great person and it seems you’re very conscious about not getting attached to the outcome, but rather enjoy the moment without putting to much in it. Good for you!
